Amanda Portman, LCSW, CEMDR is trained in a variety of clinical modalities to treat trauma, anxiety, attachment issues, betrayal trauma, excessive fear/worry, overthinking, marital issues, grief, and many others. Amanda is a licensed provider in Kentucky, Florida, and Vermont.
She started her career as an investigative worker for the state of Kentucky in 2004 before moving into clinical therapeutic work in 2008. Amanda has been certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) since 2016.
EMDR is designated as an effective treatment by the American Psychiatric Association, the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and many other international health agencies.

Learn how to provide your child(ren) with more positive discipline.
Identify & discuss the differences between positive and negative discipline.
Group will provide a variety of ideas that will aid in better behavior & more peace within your household.
We will discuss various age appropriate disciplinary techniques.
We will help normalize the personal struggles that caretakers face when children become defiant.
Group will support and normalize caretaker feelings of becoming overwhelmed with child(ren)s behavior choices.
Total is due prior to the start of the first session.

I have an eclectic treatment approach that is collaborative. Some skill sets include, but are not limited to, coping skills, grounding tools, exposure, cognitive behavioral, person-centered, interpersonal psychology, psychoeducation, family dynamics, emotion-focused, treatment planning, existential, internal family systems, somatic, strategic, EMDR, hypnosis, solution focused, among others.
I work with a number of mental health disorders, and provide a neutral ground to individuals, teenagers, families, and couples. My ultimate goal is to assist you in determining your goals, accomplishing those goals, and increasing your quality of life.
I strive to be accommodating to my clients. I do my best to provide clients with consistent appointments that meet their needs. I try to make a safe cozy environment for each person that I speak with while working with a variety of therapeutic skills & modalities.

ONLINE Group Therapy 6 sessions $90 for all 6 group sessions.
Group session topics change every season so be sure to check the website! You may email Amanda to request a specific topic.
If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment you will be required to pay/charged the full cost of the session. Thank you for your understanding.

Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim. I am a mandatory reporter.
If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with both couples and is a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship.
